relative between science and religion

First of all I think religion is as a basic and principle and science is as a implement and tools . so we have a lot of verses in quran almost 850 verses about religion and faith ( like : o people believe Allah … or o people who are believe in Allah and….)

Another aspect we have almost 850 verses encourage the people and believers to get science (like: so know or might you thin k or recognize? or way you do not perceive ? You do not

And etcetera …) of coerce we have thousand s tradition about science and religion and faith (like:

عن النبی صلی ا.. علیه و آله: اطلبوا العلم ولو بالصین. بحار الانوار ج1

Demand the science although in china. as it was very far from medineh

عن علی علیه السلام :طلب العلم فریضة علی کل مسلم . وسائل الشیعه ج 27

Demanding the science is essential for all Moslem mail and female and a lot of other)

اطلبوا العلم من المهد الی الحد.

So the important question is what is as a principle and what is the branch?

According to our religion I think the faith and religion is as a principle and the science is as a branch . so if the science can be at faith service it is very good .so we have a lot of traditions show us when every faith mankind do his worship scenicelly his worship has more and

more gratuity .

or scientist sleep is better than unknowing worship

عن النبی صلی ا.. علیه و آله :نوم العالم افضل من عبادة الجاهل . بحار الانوار ج4

and it can be controlled .

But when any one has not faith or any disbeliever may be use science against other because he sees science as a principle for his purpose

So we see a lot of problem in world. Like: 1 world war and 2 world war and a lot of other shameful and unjust deeds and etcetera …

So it is famous that anshtain said if I had know governments use my science against the mankind's I had never about nuclear .

Relationship between religion and science

We need to speak about some issues

First of all : what is the meaning of religion ?

second what is the meaning of science ?

The third : is there any Relationship between religion and science or not?

The Scientifics said variety definition for religion.

Some of theme like shlayer makher says:

1- There is not any concern between religion and science because the religion is a morally and soul phenomena

But the science is yield of experimental research .

But favor of experimental and sensation stuffs are as a reason of religious . so it difference with the religion.

Some of theme like viliam jaims says :
2- the religion is a private thing between any person and his god so there is not any concern between religion and science
This is as a secularism .
But this idea is not matched with the Islamic orders specially when we see the Quran we will see that all of quran which revealed to our prophet is both of specially and socially . like:

لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَأَنزَلْنَا مَعَهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْمِيزَانَ لِيَقُومَ النَّاسُ بِالْقِسْطِ وَأَنزَلْنَا

( surah alhadid verse – 5) للناس ..الْحَدِيدَ فِيهِ بَأْسٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَنَافِعُ

…

certainly we sent our messengers with clear arguments, and sent down with them the book and the balance that men may conduct themselves with equity; and we have made the iron, wherein is great violence and advantages to men, ..

some scientist like marc and those who are as positivism say
3 - there is conflict between religion and science
because their interpretation of world is jus as a materially or experimentally .
but wesee Clearly some metaphysic stuffs.

and the last idea is Islamic idea as prophesier tabatabaee said
4-religion is the series of ideas and morally orders which revealed from god to our prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.o.h)
For the mankind to be success and lucky in both of this world and hereafter .(shia in islam .-page 41)
I think this defining has a lot of advantages .

4-religion is the series of ideas and morally orders which revealed from god to our prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.o.h)
For the mankind to be success and lucky in both of this world and hereafter .(shia in islam .-page 41)
I think this defining has a lot of advantages .

In the contrary the science has two means
1- both of natural science and social science

2- in the islam approach the science is as a light and guidance like:

(Surah al e imran - verse 18) شَهِدَ اللّهُ أَنَّهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ وَالْمَلاَئِكَةُ وَأُوْلُواْ الْعِلْمِ قَآئِمَاً بِالْقِسْطِ..

allah bears witness that there is no god but he, and (so do) the angels and those possessed of knowledge, maintaining his creation with justice ..

قُلْ آمِنُواْ بِهِ أَوْ لاَ تُؤْمِنُواْ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهِ إِذَا يُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ يَخِرُّونَ لِلأَذْقَانِ سُجَّدًا .

Surah isra – verse 107

say: believe in it or believe not; surely those who are given the knowledge before it fall down on their faces, making obeisance when it is recited to them.

(Surah almojadeleh – v11 يَرْفَعِ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ..

allah will exalt those of you who believe, and those who are given knowledge, in high degrees; ..

Finally eccording to our sure religion text in islam like Quran we see a lot of example that concord between religion and science like:

1- sun moving . in surah sysof verses 38 - 41

2- mountain moving . surah alnahl – verse 89

3- plant zygosis . surah alhejr. Verse- 22

4- fornidding pork meat and blood . surah albagharah – verse 173

5- couple of planet. Surah yasin – verse – 36

And…..

science is like a car Science is as a light for faithAnyway

And religion without science is like going in dark way

Relationship between religion and science


We need to speak about some issues

but you should be careful when using the word science.
there is a diverse defference between "Ilm" and "Sceince
the philosophical definition for science rejects religion as a source of knowledge
you'de better use the arabic alternative "Ilm"

I don't have to reason something that I don't believe.
Science" has a definition which was introduced by western philosophers based on a specific Epistemology.
and since we muslims don't approve western Epistemological ideas, in a careful wirtting we should avoid using Sciecnce instead of Ilm
I'm sure you knew that.
